While a lot of Games Workshop’s newer models are more dynamic than ever, I have a soft spot for static but thematic poses. It is Tom again, this time here to talk about my Genestealer Cult Nexos.

I really loved the orange and offwhite coloursheme, and so went about replicating it. The orange is based with Jokaro Orange, before layering with Trollslayer Orange to make it more vibrant. The shade deepens down to Kantor Blue mixed with Abbadon black – the slight colour helps to bring out the brighteness of the rest of it!

My fulltime job sadly isn’t painting warhammer, I am an Engineer. I wanted to bring some of this onto the tabletop, and decided that the vehicles and equipment would be a bright, almost Hi Vis yellow. This is shaded down to Rhinox Brown, and highlighted up to Dorn Yellow. I then used a coarse sponge with the same brown to add some weathering around the edge, to make it feel less like it has just come off a shelf! IF you dont know already there is an easter egg with this model – the buildings on top with the arrows are actually Warhammer World from above!

Tune in next time for a Genestealer Cult Vehicle – painted the same fetching yellow as the map table! If you want to see more in the meantime, check out my Instagram.
