A new Season of Warhammer Age of Sigmar begins with a new narrative series, Dawnbringers, which tells of the beginnings of Sigmar’s Twin-tailed Crusade. To coincide with Book 1, four new boxes are released, each forming a Regiment of Renown and a new miniature for their faction: Phlugoth’s Shudderhood, Braggit’s Bottle-snatchaz, Fjori’s Flamebearers, and Jerrion’s Delegation.

Dawnbringers review

Dawnbringers: Maggotkin of Nurgle – Phlugoth’s Shudderhood

Phlugoth’s Shudderhood contains a brand-new Harbinger of Decay, plus five Putrid Blightkings and two Pusgoyle Blightlords. The Harbinger of Decay is probably the most spectacular new model of all Dawnbringers boxes. The model echoes the classic Nurgle Lord on Daemonic Mount, but is rendered in glorious plastic and comes on a 90mm oval base.

Dawnbringers: Gloomspite Gitz – Braggit’s Bottle-snatchaz

Braggit’s Bottle-snatchaz is the perfect box for those who love squigs. It contains a new Rabble-Rowza, a new hero model on a 32mm base for the Gloomspite Gitz, plus the Gobbapalooza, ten Cave Squigs with two handlers, and 10 Squig-Hoppers / Boingrot Bounderz. The box offers a good alternative to the Vanguard box of the Gloomspite Gitz, because unlike the latter it contains only current models and none of the old Moonclan Grots. The design of the Rabble-Rowza is also very nice.

Dawnbringers: Fyreslayers – Fjori’s Flamebearers

Fjori’s Flamebearers has the new Grimhold Exile Fyreslayer, plus ten Vulkite Berzerkers, as well as ten Auric Hearthguard / Hearthguard Berzerkers. The Grimhold Exile (32mm base) is another hero model for the Fyreslayers, and the model seems to be even more reminiscent of the classic Dwarf Slayers archetype than the rest of the range. Unfortunately, the Fyreslayers have only a limited amount of kits, so this box is once again very infantry-heavy – and Fyreslayer collectors should already have more than enough Berzerkers and Hearthguard.

Dawnbringers: Flesh-eater Courts – Jerrion’s Delegation

Jerrion’s Delegation shares a similar problem with Fjori’s Flamebearers. As the Flesh-eater Courts range is limited, this box has once again the same kits we always see in this kind of Flesh-eater boxes: twenty Crypt Ghouls, plus six Crypt Flayers / Crypt Horrors. The new model of this set is the Marrowscroll Herald (32mm base), who introduces a new type of weapon to the Flesh-eater Courts with his giant bony scythe.

  • Both the Fyreslayers and Flesh-eater boxes feature the same models they always do
  • Just a single new model per box

Final Verdict

A great way to save money over buying the models individually - or just a way to put new character models in large boxes to make extra revenue. You get to decide what you think of the Dawnbringers boxes.
