When I saw this year’s Warhammer+ miniatures, as a long-time Aeldari fan I immediately knew I had to have Infinity’s Lament. Eldar collectors had to endure many years waiting for reinforcements, so I couldn’t let this wonderful little diorama vignette pass me by. In this post I’m showing you my version, painted in the turquoise of Craftworld Iybraesil.

Finding inspiration: Choosing a Craftworld colour scheme

But when I had the miniature at home and had already assembled it, I somehow lacked inspiration. My first thought was to give the diorama an unique colour scheme, meaning a different Craftworld from my Iybraesil, Ulthwé and Saim-Hann models. Iyanden would naturally have been very thematically appropriate, but the ‘Eavy Metal version is already Iyanden, and I wanted to do something different. Biel-Tan was a thought, but then I’d already seen some Biel-Tan paint jobs on Instagram at a technically better level than I could pull off, and was somewhat demotivated.

The perfect match: Infinity’s Lament for my Iybraesil collection

So the model stood naked and grey on the shelf for a few months, but when I saw the new Aeldari Corsairs models and the new Vyper at the last preview (my review of the Eldritch Raiders battleforce here), inspiration grabbed me again. And the solution for the colour scheme became suddenly quite obvious: I looked at my shelf and noticed that for my Iybraesil collection (which should actually be complete) I had painted the complete palette of Wraithguard, Wraithlord and Wraithknight. So I realised Infinity’s Lament actually fitted perfectly with them, and decided to bring out my old colour scheme again.

What’s next for my Aeldari collection

My desire to paint Aeldari has definitely been reignited. I’ve assembled the new Vyper for my review, and I’m envisioning a 2nd Edition Ulthwé colour scheme with yellow lightning for it. Additionally, I finally want to have a complete Corsairs Voidscarred kill team, after painting a test model for a tutorial years ago. Let’s see how far I get this year 🙂
