Hey there, next up is the sergeant of my bike squad. As you can see, I’m making good progress. The tires, the blue armour and the red helmet are done, now I need to paint all those details. Once finished, the sergeant will add some nice spot colours to the unit with his red helmet, his golden chest eagle and shoulder guards, he’ll also get white laurels. In my Ultramarines army, all sergeants are made from the metal (now Finecast) veteran models. I needed to gather lots of different parts to to match the ornate look of the veterans. The legs originate from the Ravenwing command squad (I had to shave the insides a little bit to make them fit the old bikes), the shoulder guards are from Forgeworld’s MkII kit and the head comes from the Sanguinary Guard box. How do you like the model so far?

Ok, i want the color recipe NOW… Did u use the regular color sceme with the Marrcraggre blue or what fer real?
What is the recipe you use on the blues?
Hi,
I use Mordian Blue for the basecoat, shade with VGC Black Ink, highlights are Ultramarine Blue and VGC Steel Grey. Check out the tutorial: http://taleofpainters.blogspot.de/2011/11/tutorial-painting-ultramarines-stahly.html
A similar effect with the new Citadel paints can be acchieved with Macragge Blue for the basecoat and Calgar Blue and Fenrisian Grey for highlights. Macragge Blue might be a bit lighter than Mordian Blue, so maybe add a little bit of Kantor Blue.
Very cool model. Definitely like those legs. Might have to poach the idea for my Ultra Bikers.
Great choice of parts to make a sergeant model. You either have a huge bitz box or you scoured the bitz sites for the perfect component configuration. Looking forward to seeing him finished and sat alongside his battle brothers.
