Hey all, today I’m showing a Daemon Prince for a Warriors of Chaos army that I’m painting as a commission. I really enjoyed painting this model and it was also fairly quick to complete as well. I used a lot of homemade weathering pigments for the shading of the skin. I made the pigments from scraping down pastels that I bought in an art store. Making pigments this way is not only cheap to do but also you have such a large colour range to choose from. Hopefully I will get up some more models for the Chaos army in the coming days. What do you think? Have any of you tried making your own pigments?

Looks great. Really like the idea of making your own colours, do you just mix the powdered pastels in with something like Lahmian Medium? What do you use for metallic pigments? I'd love to make a clear metallic pigment, so I can paint over any colour and make it metallic…
Hi, you can use them without lahmian medium. Not certain if you can get metallic pastels!
Love your style of painting!
Are the wing just black?
Hey thanks. The wings are a mix of dark brown and black with a bit of metallic. But I think it does not show up so well in the photos.
That is awesome great use of colour
Hey thanks 🙂
