Hey guys, I’ve spent the weekend assembling this Wave Serpent type II from Forgeworld. I’ve painted a regular Wave Serpent years ago for my Eldar of Saim-Hann, so I wanted something a little bit different for my craftworld Iybraesil collection.
I wish GW would have had the occasion to recut the venerable Falcon kit, because the fit isn’t really great and adding a slightly warped resin rear spoiler doesn’t make it easier. It took a lot of green stuff to fill all the gaps, but now it’s almost ready for priming. Anybody here who had the “pleasure” of assembling a type II Wave serpent?

Stahly hails from Craftworld Germany and has been involved with Warhammer since childhood. He has painted several armies and countless warbands and Kill Teams over the decades, and founded Tale of Painters in 2011. When he's not painting miniatures incredibly slowly, he's testing the latest paints, tools and kits with German precision and a no non-sense attitude.
Think you could take some WIP shots of your airbrushing steps? I'd love to see how you got your smooth shading and highlights done on your Hornet!
Sorry Daniel, it's too late for taking pictures 😉 Maybe I'll do a tutorial when I'm painting the next Eldar vehicle.
I appreciate it! I've got some old, old Falcons that I want to use for airbrush practice, and I really like how your Iybraesil colors look.
I hear the Storm Eagle and Fire Rapter are particularly bad fits as well.
I had problems lining up all the parts for my Thunderhawk gunship. Heating with a hair-dryer and instantly dipping into a bowl of cold water helped a lot.
