Hey all, I have had a extremely busy week painting up a large Tyranid army which I will be showing later. But today I thought I’d show a Eldar Wraithlord and some WraithGuards that I painted for a client as part of expanding army.
The Wraithlord and Wraithguards are painted in the same colour scheme to match a Wraithknight that I showed a few years ago that belonged to the client. I have painted this colour scheme quite a few times over the years as it proves quite popular for Eldar. I’m quite happy with the turn out on these.

It's a pretty cool color scheme, very different then what GW says the Eldar prefer: bright contrasting colors but back in the early days of 1st edition 40k when the Eldar were nothing more then roving bands of mercs and corsairs, they had some very lurid and garish color schemes until July 1990. The organic colors look good and something I toyed with before.
Sponge weathered flat white primer. Very lazy.
How do you achieve the gloss effect on their heads? Multiple layers of 'Ardcoat or something else?
Kansuke, a gloss effect can be achieved either with clear gloss sprays from Testors or better still, Tamiya or Krylon paints or Future floor polish.
Like the look, great job. Can you give me a hint on you did that black spackling ? Much appreciated !
Dizzee, its basically just gw rhinox hide mixed with black and then using a small sponge and dabbing on the model. The sponge I use is similar to the foam you get in the gw carry cases.
I LOVE this pale, monochrone and sinister paint scheme! By far the best Eldars around if you ask me.
If you'd ever get around to do a tutorial on those, I'd be a very happy man 🙂
I'm not much one on tutorials. But check out Les Bursleys Deathwing Tutorial on YouTube. I followed that closely.
I'm a fan of your spooky Eldar.
Thanks:)
Reminds me of Prometheus with a bit of Alien grit. Are you using a medium to thin your washes? I ask because im looking for something other than Lahmian medium and you use washes extensively.
Hey Hari, yeah I'm a big fan of how Ridley Scotts Prometheus and Alien look. I think your right in that I did use those films as a lookbook on the Eldar and a lot of other things I paint. Instead of Lahmian try Windsor and Newton inks or oil paint thinned down. The results are quite good.
I really like how you have managed to make Eldar look creepy. Good stuff!!
The traditional Eldar color schemes look a little to common to the human eye, which doesn't make sense since the Eldar are an alien race. If human beings from different continents find each other's color palettes unsettling, it's extremely unlikely humans would find alien color palettes to be familiar. I like this scheme because it feels "foreign", and that's really what being alien is about, right?
These are beautiful! How do you do your bases? Greg
Hi Greg, its basically Araldite glue, cork, broken slate, polyfilla and sand.
