Hi everyone, it’s been a while since my last post. Times have been very busy and hectic but luckily I’m still able to get some hobby done. For a while, I’ve wanted to look for an easy Space Marine scheme that isn’t time-consuming. I really love Paul Norton’s Iron Ravens and how he has painted the silver metallics so I wanted to give it a shot thus I chose the Dark Angels successor chapter the Guardians of the Covenant to try it on.
The recipes for the different colours are very standard, I tried my best to be as neat as possible because with such simple techniques I knew I had to keep the highlighting very precise. I tried to make my own transfers for the chapter symbol without much luck and success after applying them to the shoulder pad with Mr Marks Softer. That’s where I really started to appreciate the quality of the Games Workshop and Forgeworls transfers. In the end, I had to paint the chapter symbol myself. There could be improvements but I’m happy with it thus far.
Overall I’m quite pleased with the scheme and want to see where it takes me. Hopefully, in the near future, I’ll have some squads of Guardians of the Covenant Space Marines or Primaris Marines to show. Let me know what you guys think below in the comments. That’s it for now. Until next time take care, everyone!
Hi, is it possible to write here paints used and in what order / steps?
Thanks a lot 🙂
Did you ever find out the color scheme for the Guardians? I’m interested myself.
Hey, it’s not exactly the same paint scheme that FruitBear used, but you can find a very similar paint scheme in the tutorial for my Silver Skulls: https://taleofpainters.com/2019/02/tutorial-how-to-paint-silver-skulls/
I have recently started a guardians of the Covenant army myself.
Ya they are more of a simple paint scheme but some of the details an take some time.
I am going to try my hand at writing the script on there armour later today like it explains in there fluff.
Great work mate can't wait to see more.
I’m new to the hobby and hope to build a full Guardians army.
Green stuff is in the mail. Curious what paints you’re using for the armor tho?
Leadbelcher and Abbadon? I’m shopping for the perfect silver now.
What would you recommend? Wash or no wash? Highlights or no highlights?
I definitely enjoying every little bit of it. It is a great website and nice share. I want to thank you. Good job! You guys do a great blog, and have some great contents. Keep up the good work. painter and decorator
Silver doesn't look quite as clean as Paul Norton's. I think he's either using more of the gloss or mixing in medium.
Hi there Siph, Thanks very much. The metallic elements and the eye lenses were quick. The other elements were two part highlights so they took longer. I guess you could always paint the other elements of the mini in single stage highlight.
Nice and hopefully quick to replicate? I find Necron Warriors quite quick to do with the single metallic basecoat, are these quick? Nice scheme, muted and militaristic.
GOC a nice take a break army scheme 😉
Hahaha. less highlighting
