Emerging from the smoke, It’s time for my monthly Conquest recap where I share with you guys how I got on, what I enjoyed and what I’m looking forward to next month. Check it out after the jump.

Do you like the first picture? I’ve been meaning to get back into more cinematic, atmospheric photography for a while. This one is different to previous ones I’ve done because I shot it with a fast shutter (flash sync speed) and I put coloured plastic (red) over two flashes to light the background in a red glow and then used a ring flash as a spotlight to light the Dread in the middle. I think it’s fun. I’ve ordered different colour plastics and I’m looking forward to trying out some different things. Watch this space.

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, this month’s is a small collection of models. The Dreadnought is split over two issues, one of the issues had the terrain and the fourth had two paint pots. I quickly worked through this in just two weeks. The Dreadnought was a lot of fun to paint and it took a week of evenings to just hand paint the armour blends.

Sorry, there are no group shots of my Dark Angels and Deathguard forces in this catch-up post. The only addition this month is the Dreadnought and some scatter terrain. It didn’t seem worth taking new shots. Next month I’ll have some more forces painted up and will take group shots.

The Conquest subscription is disorientating. The delivery schedule is so unreliable. It’s supposed to be every 4 weeks. A while back they were three weeks late then this batch (23-26) turns up 4 weeks after that and then the latest batch of issues arrived just three weeks after this. That’s right 27-30 turned up a week early. Luckily, I’m caught up nicely and working through those issues now. It has scuppered any plans to paint Shadowspear minis but I’m hoping to free up two weeks this month to work on those.

Next month sees a Chaos Rhino, a Captain in Gravis Armour, three Primaris Sergeants and some Ruined Building Terrain. Going to be a busy month!
