Ah the Suppressors. Generally regarded as a silly looking unit. My first impression was something very similar, I thought they looked odd floating in mid air while trying to aim such a long weapon. What do I think of them now? Well after the jump I reveal all!
Come little brother, let me show you how to capture Fallen.
This image here sums up my feelings for the Suppressors. Jump packs and weapons aren’t a new idea. The old marine’s proportions are just off. He looks like he has a tiny torso and an oversized head. The proportions of the Suppressor are just spot on. I’m a complete convert to this unit now. In hand they just look badass. The old marines look derpy as hell.
Two pairs of grav vanes, multiple thrusters, these guys can fly!
I also like the idea of the Suppressors. Mobile fire unit suits the Adeptus Astartes so much better. They hit and run. They’re always outnumbered so they shouldn’t be stuck in a single location. Gun line marine armies just doesn’t feel right, whilst falling from the skies like avenging angels all guns blazing seems a much better fit.
Suppressing Fire, it’s what they do.
They have a really nice special rule as well, if you kill a model in a target unit, they then can’t fire overwatch. Really useful in making sure all your Reivers make it to the fight and don’t get gunned down.
What do you think of the Suppressors?
Recently saw a version of these on Reddit with the Suppressors standing on the ground. Makes the models look 100% less derpy. https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer40k/comments/jr6l85/my_imperial_fists_suppressors/
This guy used regular intercessor legs.
Those flight stands don't appear to be attached where I think they attach?
They at least don't seem to watch GW pics, but it's an improvement.
The jump packs just aren't big enough. Look at the packs on Inceptors, a much better scale and they are only wielding chunky Bolters. Your paint scheme looks outstanding, but these models are just strange looking. The gun barrels are way to long.
Shorten the barrels, fit Inceptor packs and 'pow' decent looking Suppressor units (jogs off to Ebay to buy parts to carry out this exact kitbash ;P).
These aren't jump packs in the traditional sense. They have 3 pairs of thrusters (two pairs on the pack and a pair on the legs. They also have two pairs of grav chute vanes.
I agree with you completely. They're built, except for the leg thrusters, like they have grav chutes – no fly, deep strike. They're not in gravis armor, so the jump pack didn't need to be as bulky as interceptors, it should look bigger than a standard pack.
