I’ve hit a small milestone today. I’ve finished 5 Infiltrators. This marks the completion of the Vanguard Space Marines from the Shadowspear boxed game, Yay!
I love finishing a batch paint, it is always a good feeling. Sometimes, finishing a project can be hard as you get distracted with new, shiny models. That definitely happened to me and Shadowspear. When Warcry and Beastgrave came out, I had to paint those amazing new models.
Warhammer 40,000 has taken a bit of a back seat for me. Age of Sigmar and it’s spin off games have really jumped to the forefront of my hobby. I think it’s because everything that comes out for Age of Sigmar is new and exciting. Warhammer 40k feels like it’s just redoing ranges we had 25 years ago like Sisters of Battle and Genestealer Cults. 40K needs a new never before seen race like the Ta’u.
ToP TIPS – If you’re struggling to finish a batch paint, skip to the end. What I mean by that is stop whereever you’re up to and finish the base. Add some texture, paint it, drybrush it and add some grass. It won’t take long but you’ll get a small sense of achievement and it’ll help you visualise the finished model. Try it, it really works!

Pictured above are the finished Vanguard Astartes from Shadowspear. I’m really happy with how they’ve all turned out. I think they look great altogether. I’m actually going to expand this force with an Invictor Tactical Warsuit but first I have to finish everything on my list before the end of the year. Nearly done!
