Enter Fafnir Rann, one of the two new limited edition Horus Heresy Space Marine characters released for the Black Library Celebration 2022. Check out his magnificent beard in our Fafnir Rann review and unboxing.
Fafnir Rann is the Lord Seneschal, Captain of the First Assault Cadre of the VII Legion, and appeared for the first time in Black Library fiction in Templar, where he took part in the Battle of Pluto. Fafnir Rann is released alongside Dominion Zephon, both plastic kits are available only while stocks last. It seems the model is available on a made to order basis from games-workshop.com once the initial print run has sold out, at least during the preorder period.
Fafnir Rann unboxing
Let’s see what’s inside the box in this YouTube short video I created:
Really cool model with lots of detail, a beautifully captured face (and beard), two enormous axes, and a huge shield strapped to his backpack. He comes on a 32 mm base and seems to be upscaled compared to earlier Horus Heresy plastic releases. His scale is in line with recent Horus Heresy resin models and modern proportioned Space Marine sculpts like the Space Marine Heroes series, Deathwatch Veterans, or the recently updated Chaos Space Marine models.
You can download his rules for free over on Warhammer Community.
Value
Fafnir Rann is surprisingly cheap for a Space Marine character model, clocking in at “only” £18 / 23€ / $32. Be aware of FOMO, because, like Dominion Zephon, the model is a limited edition release, so hurry before you miss out.
You can (pre)order Fafnir Rann from our partner stores Wayland Games and Element Games at a discount, so check out if the model is still available here. Using our links helps to support Tale of Painters at no extra cost to you, thank you very much 🙂
