The front claws are complete. This just leaves the back legs to paint and the model is complete.
I added some glazes to the claws to shade them down to brown. It’s just helped tint them a bit darker. I’ve also continued with the purple shading between the carapace which I quite like at the moment. Also added some yellow dotting to help break up some of that black.
Are you guys as excited as me to see this model finished? I can’t wait to finish it and start something else.

Sweet, yeah I use skype, skypename is king88mob (though I'm in NZ)
True. I've got other distractions pulling me away from it as well (new baby, new army) but I think i'll make an effort this weekend to get the base at least built if not painted. Think I'll stick with my Tau theme for now, I've got a crisis suit or two as well I can dedicate to the cause. Will be using some foam to add some relief to the base..
I've actually got a Dakka build log for this project, would be good to start that up again
Blaise, I think you're swamping yourself with complications. Take it one step at a time.
Have fun creating the base, ignore the phant for a bit and concentrate just on the base. Once the base is built I'll be happy to discuss ideas for building and strengthening the phant with you. Do you use Skype?
I've got the body fully assembled and cleaned, i've started greestuffing the neck (mine's got a great big gap). I'm basing it on a massive oval and that's actually part of the problem. I'm stuck on deciding what to do with the basing. I've got a shrine of the aquila i was originally going to use but decided instead to go with a Tau serpent with fire warriors running out of it. Which of course makes the task all the greater.
I'm also tossing around the idea of chopping the legs and making it free standing but that scares me something vicious. I was going to use a metal rod in the stomach but I'm not sure i like that look.
Blaise, I found if you break the model up and paint it in parts it helps. In my head each part is it's own separate model. So completing these claws is like completing 2 whole models.
How far gone are you with it?

And this is why my Heirophant project stalled out. It's so much time to dedicate to a (beautiful) model that's mostly a display piece when I've got so much else to paint. I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets Hierophant burnout…
