With the red of the body complete, I’ve started highlighting the carapace with my airbrush. I masked off all the red areas and then using a piece of card, I highlighted the edge of each plate using the card to mask the join of the plates. Quite simple, but looks effective. Not great photos I’m afraid, there are black shadows cast over the black armour from the spines, but I think you get the idea.

Hi guys, only just seen your questions about masking. I use Tamiya Masking Tape. Link below. It stays stuck on, but lifts off easily without lifting the paint off. It's simple to tear and apply.
There is a small piece about masking off here:

really awesome what did you use to mask?
Great work on that.. but what are you using for masking? Just masking tape or something else? I am having a horrible time masking my projects for airbrush work. Any chance you have a tutorial or can make one on how to mask up models ready for Airbrush?
Cheers Granesh. BTW, your username sounds really familiar? Where have I seen you before?
Lovin' it man, the blending is perfect and the crater strewn base really adds character! Great work!
