Stahly: In this monthly section we want to review the progress of our “Tale of Mega Painters” project, a motivational project by Garfy and me. Basically we want to push ourselves to paint up a Dark Eldar and Necron Megaforce respectively. In my case to start a new army, in Garfy’s case to expand his small collection of Necrons. More about “Tale of Mega Painters” can be found in our kick-off post here. Click “more after the jump” to review all the models we painted this month.

Last month I managed to complete my unit of Kabalite Warriors, after I’ve painted about two third of them in February. Check out the showcase here. I’ve also published a tutorial for my paint scheme, as well a tutorial for the glowing eyes I add to all my models. My second big project for last month was my Raider. I aimed to assemble it and get most of the painting done. I did really well, as the model is almost done. As you read this, I put the last finishing touches to the crew models, so stay tuned for the completed model.

In April I want to assemble and paint a unit of five Scourges, I also want to add a hanging Kabalite Warrior to my Raider. If I’ve got enough time left, I hope to assemble a Venom, too, so I can start painting it next month.

Now, over to Garfy and his Necrons.

Garfy: Quick recap for February, I failed miserably by not completing my squad of Necron Warriors. So I entered March vowing to finish the Necron Warriors and paint two new units… how did I get on?

Well I finished the six Necron Warriors I was painting and I rebased three of the old warriors from my previous collection.  I also, built and painted an Annihilation Barge, which I’m really happy with the outcome.  I didn’t get round to painting the Deathmarks in the end, however I did change my existing Doomscythe to a Nightscythe and rebase the model, so that’s kinda another unit complete even if it was already existing. Here is a handy tutorial with details on how I airbrushed the hull of my Nightscythe.

I’ve been distracted during the first two months of this project as I was completing the Hobbit boxed game and Tyranid Attack boxed game. On my work desk at the moment I have further distraction in the form of the Eagles from the Hobbit and Abaddon. However, I’m not here to make excuses. My pledge for April will be Necron Overlord and provide a detailed tutorial on how I painted the model and if I get time, I’d also like to make a start on my Death Marks.
