Hey guys, I’ve just finished the Techmarine and Thunderfire Cannon (watch out for the showcase post next week), so it’s time for something new. A while ago, I painted three Iybraesil Guardian test models and a weapon platform, too, so I thought it would be a good idea to finish what I started. I don’t like half finished projects.
So far I’ve assembled the seven more Guardians that are needed to complete the squad, basecoated and washed their armour and painted the base texture. I added a couple of extra female torsos, so that the final squad will have gender equality. Craftworld Iybraesil is described as a matriarchal society, so I thought there must be more female Eldar who’ve followed the path of the warrior. What do you think?

Stahly lives in Craftworld Hamburg, located in the north of Germany. He has been involved with Warhammer since childhood and has painted several armies and countless warbands and kill teams over the decades. When he's not painting miniatures incredibly slowly, he's writing tutorials and testing the latest miniature paints, hobby tools and kits. He founded Tale of Painters to pass on his knowledge and bring inspiration to your hobby.
Hi Stahly!
They look great – I like painting blue miniatures. Having said that and seeing that bunch, I even ponder buying some eldar guardians:-)
As usual, I like the bases you made for them.
Any chance you'll lay your hands on the StormClaw new set or some of the new orks/space wolves minis?
Have a nice day,
Tomas
No, neither Orks nor Space Wolves are my kind of bag. But Garfy preordered a copy of Stormclaw and vowed to make tutorials for all the models!
Great start on these mate. Looking forward to seeing these complete and join the ranks of their fellow finished models.
As for Stormclaw. I'm extremely excited by this. I've got a rough plan of what I want to do. I'm thinking of painting the Ork models in a similar vein to my 2nd edition orks. Then I'm thinking of combining my Dark Angels from Dark Vengeance and my space wolves from Storm Claw to make an allied force.
Space Wolves and Dark Angels just don't get along in the fluff and I love the idea of them both on the field of battle with their own agendas. Clearly the Dark Angels are just using the Wolves to reach a fallen, but the wolves are oblivious and just want to stubbornly out perform the Dark Angels in the name of Leman Russ. Love it!
And yes, I'm planning tutorials for Blood Claws, Wolf Guard Terminators, Nobz and Grotz.
Cool, looking forward, Garfy!
Regards,
Tomas
Nice touch with the female models according to the fluff!
