It is funny to be put in the situation where you feel a model has too much detail. So much in fact that you don’t have room for your own creative additions like freehand details. I really felt this with the Hammerers so now as I finish assembly on the first unit of Longbeards I really want to create some space for Karak Eight Peaks iconography. I spent a rather significant amount of time over the weekend with the Dremel and hobby knife scraping off the faces but leaving the edging on the shields. Getting clean margins on the inside circle was slow going.

A really clean work man! I have to do the same with a cloack full of skull…
I've noticed this also. Get a life and quit being jealous
Why do you like WHFB so much?
This question has been answered. You're clearing enjoying the attention of asking the same question over and over again. Can I ask why you insist on asking the same question over and over again even though it's been answered?
Also, why not log in and stop hiding behind the anonymous id?

Really? I have to keep asking the same question repeatedly because none of few "answers" I got justify playing only WHFB and using just GW models and modelling materials (as Xoxtile does), simple as. And I personally prefer to remain anonymous.
Garfy, I think there is no answer that would satisfy Anonymous. Perhaps the best thing to do is ignore the question altogether. Because after asking it so many times, it is clear now that all Anonymous is after is attention.
Xoxitle doesn't have to justify his hobby to you. Just be pleased for him that he loves what he's doing and be thankful he engaged with you and answered your questions with HIS answers. If his answers aren't what you wanted to hear then that's your concern and you will have to live it. He can't change his opinion to suit you I'm afraid.
I'm happy to engage with you in a grown up fashion. I treat everyone equally and with respect. Hence why I'm not deleting your comments, despite them being one tracked.
Please continue to enjoy the hard work we put it into tale of painters and treat this site and the painters with the respect it deserves so we can continue to focus on delivering high quality content on a daily basis.

All the best

Garfy.
I like that it gives the shields a rough appearance. Dwarves shouldn't have perfect mirror finishes on their shields. Not the common foot soldiers anyway. Gonna look nice!
What Dremel bit do you use to remove the detail so cleanly?
I use the little round head bit just to get the big bits off. After that I used an xacto to scape the dremel marks down to as smooth a finish as possible … much like you would when you scrape mold lines. I used the plastic bristled brush bit to clean off the scrapings. 🙂
Great, thanks for the info!
Still that is going above and beyond man wow Can't wait to see what you put on them heh. Are you going to just paint or use putty to make your own symbols? By the post I assume paint.
