Hey guys, today I thought I would show a Tau Sky Ray Missile Defence Gunship that I have been working on.
The model is part of quite a large army that I am painting as a commission. I was asked to paint the models in a WW2 German winter style. For reference I looked a lot at WW2 military models and photos of tanks online. The model has been painted basically in 3 levels, in which I used a basecoat which was highlighted, then I used ripped masking tape to create the camo scheme. After that I used a matt varnish and then applied several coats of grade 4 hairspray. Once the hairspray had dried I finely airbrushed white over the model and then used a old brush with some hot water to rub areas of white away. What do you think?

Dirty, gritty Tau. Love it.
Hey cheers guys 🙂
That is stunning. More please!
Somewhat new to the blog but I gotta say, I love it! The Skyray came out great… definitely a maschinen krieger vibe… which is always a good thing!
Cheers Cavalier, it was a challenge to work out side the box but I enjoyed it and like the results 🙂
Yeah, that 100% looks like it's about to make the time honored mistake of invading Russia in the winter. Well done, definitely captured the feel.
But shouldn't there be a Tau warrior suffering from hypothermia for the greater good on the base?
