After 7 weeks of painting a single Imperial Knight I’m looking forward to paint something small and simple. I really love this Culexus Assassin, I think he’s the best sculpt of the four models released with the Assassins boxed game. The pose is menacing and powerful, and something different than the yelling and one foot on a rock poses you usually have.
I already made good progress on this guy. As you can see, I haven’t touched the head yet. Not sure whether I should go for the classic bone-white or do something different. Maybe keep it all black like the body suit? Or paint it red? What do you think?

Stahly
Stahly hails from Craftworld Germany and has been involved with Warhammer since childhood. He has painted several armies and countless warbands and Kill Teams over the decades, and founded Tale of Painters in 2011. When he's not painting miniatures incredibly slowly, he's testing the latest paints, tools and kits with German precision and a no non-sense attitude.
Cover it with something black which does not reflect light (maybe some fabric like black velvet)
Great job so far, really like the model and the paintjob definetly lives up to it. I'd go for the red skull, would be something fresh and it would definitely look kick-ass.
Love the black on the bodysuit! Almost looks like its shimmering
Thanks 🙂 It's probably because I sealed some areas with gloss varnish. Once the paint job is complete, I'll add a coat of matte varnish to even it out.
looking great so far
I would go with classic white maybe working up from a ghostly grey to make it look more menacing
