I’ve finished a unit of Ardboys for my new Ironjawz army, click to read more about my thoughts on them and see more photos after the jump!
I bought the Start Collecting Ironjawz set which comes with 10 Ardboys, the Ardboys are the older sculpts and therefore not as nicely detailed as the Brutes, which I showcased here. I’m still in the process of deciding what build I’ll go for my army when I play, I’m still yet to play a game with them yet, on paper the Ardboys are ok but in terms of painting and for the same points cost I would much prefer to go with Brutes instead. The Ardboys were a bit of a chore to paint to be honest, I didn’t enjoy them as much as the Brutes, and the massive difference in sculpt quality is the reason for this. I found the Ardboys to be quite repetitive and not very detailed, so I tried to make them as interesting as possible with weathering and adding dags patterns on the armour. I decided to go for all helmeted Ardboys and make the leader unhelmeted, perhaps more unhelmeted Orruks may have varied up the painting. I added some spare Brutes bits to the leader to make him a bit more interesting too.
Next up on the painting table is the Orruk Megaboss!
