Hey, ‘member the Mordheim Skaven I painted a while ago? Well, I took some more photos of the fnished warband now.
Over the past years I accumulated some late medieval/Fantasy terrain and made those trees and all, so I thought I should give one of these scenic photoshoots a go. The buildings are hard foam buildings by Ziterdes (review coming up …err…some time soon.), the building with the blue roof of course is Townhouse II by Tabletop World, which actually was part of the Skaven warband commission.
You’re already familiar with the trees from my earlier tutorial article, same with the fences. The piles of crates and barrels are by Micro Art Studio, the mat underneath it all is by Deep Cut Studio.
I really enjoyed working on this warband too. Believe it or not, but I never really painted many Skaven models until I started on this warband. It’s all proper metal of course with a wide range of minis from 1989 to 2010-ish.
The cobblestone bases on these (and which you’ve probably seen on some other projects of mine in the past) I cast myself.
Yus, that’s it. Hope you like the photos! 🙂
Heyhey, thanks for dropping by and commenting, Sir!
Awesome work Sigur- you know I like a Skaven warband and Mordheim!
Yes, yes models are lovely… but please tell us / show us more of that gorgeous scenery!
😀 Alrighty. I shall! In the not too distant future.
Until then you can have a look at some of it here in this battle report:

Cool, looking forward to it 🙂
That setup has totally changed my view of how battle mats can look with the right terrain.
Cool. 🙂 Maybe I should write something about those some time…
Oh Mordheim, I 'member!!! =)
Such a great game that was, and still is (GW remake plz!)
Thats some very nice pictures, looks alive big time!
Thanks for sharing and great work 🙂

Yeah, I'm really on the fence on current GW and their ability to actually take something older and redo it in a fashion that equals or even surpasses earlier incarnations. The really cool thing is of course that the BB/Mordheim/Epic/Necromunda/Inquisitor peeps have been active all the time, improving things, adding stuff and so on. So no real need for GW to get involved at all. If they manage to do something cool and actually add something beyond more modern figures it's cool, but GW's involvement, I think, is not required.
But yeah, Mordheim rocks. Funnily enough, I never played a single game. 😀 Played all the other "specialist games" (apart from Aeronautica Imperialis if that counts), never had a game of Mordheim. I read it of course and it's really popular, so I'm rather sure it's cool.
Very, very nice! Brilliant paint job(s) and a neat compilation of miniatures through the Skaven range. Also a great idea with the scenic photoshoots. Makes you feel bad for the denizen of that rural town.
Thanks muchly! Don't feel bad for the denizen though. The inner city is a cityplanner's nightmare and the Skaven (due to basing restrictions) have to stick to the paved areas, leaving the rest quite safe. 😉
