Hey guys, I’ve completed the next unit for my new Adeptus Mechanicus army for 40k, a unit of Kastelan Robots. I really enjoyed painting these.
I’m really happy with the finished product on this unit, I can’t wait to use them in a game now they’re fully painted. I’ve used them in two games now and they’ve been excellent in both.
I really enjoyed painting the weathering on these models. I wanted to make them look battle damaged and rusty, like they’ve been in battle for some time. The weathering was painted Rhinox Hide for the chips, then highlighted underneath the chip with Pallid Wych Flesh. The rust streaks were watered down Skrag Brown and Scale 75 Mars Orange, and this was also painted into the recessess in various places around the model. I also painted Rakarth Flesh back onto the red fists, shoulder pads and knee pads to make them look worn and as if the red paint had chipped off to show the underneath colour the same as the rest of the armour.
I really enjoyed painting these models, which surprised me at first as I wasn’t sure how I’d find it. They’re really fun models, and I’m really pleased with the finished result!
Awesome stuff!!!
Awesome work, they look excellent! Nice weathering effects.
Nice work Amy!
Only thing which could be boosted a bit perhaps is the contrast.
The streaks and colour of the robots are close together.
A bit more shading on the large areas could also help define the shapes a bit more.
Lovely work!
Wow, they're amazing!
I'm being sarcastic by the way…
That reply was not by me the poster of the original comment. Someone thinks they're funny.
Great work as always!
