While I’m putting the last finishing touches to my Devastator Squad, I prepared the next model to be reworked: the classic Jes Goodwin Marneus Calgar in Power Armour sculpt. Apart from the paint job I’ll refine, I also added a new scenic 32mm base and a large banner (comes from the Ironclad Dreadnought, the banner top from the Ultramarines chapter upgrade sprue). I’ll recreate Calgar’s iconic banner design as a freehand, so watch this space!

looking forward to the finished product. It's a classic mini!
Really excited to see the freehand work. Any tips on how to prepare the paints for this kind of work?
I probably have a very unusual style of freehanding. I often base them on custom printed decals and paint them like I would do a miniature – starting with the darkest colour like a base paint, then apply highlights. I just use regular paint with a little bit of water, no difference really.
How about drilling the bolter barrels while you're at it?
I will 😉
Aw yes, such a classic sculpt. Can't wait to see your work on the banner!
