Hi all, Rich here with a short showcase on the Forge World Defenders of Helm’s Deep miniatures. I painted these for a friend who received these for Christmas from his lovely wife! I really love the detail on the new Middle-Earth, Forge World miniatures, I think they are some of the nicest Middle-Earth miniatures we have ever had.

What do you think? Do you prefer the old metal miniatures (I have a soft spot for the original metal Fellowship of the Ring), do you prefer the new resin minis, or perhaps you prefer the new plastics we are getting for Middle-Earth? Let me know in the comments below! Either way it’s a great time to be in the Middle-Earth hobby right now. Take care of yourself and hobby on.

Topsy (short for Tale of Painters System) is our little skull-shaped servitor mascot. Here at Tale of Painters, he (she? it? they?) looks after all the posts that don't have a specific author from our editorial team. These include, for example, guest posts, announcements, status updates, or summaries.

Thank you Jonathan 🙂 Brilliant, what are you working on?
They look excellent. I always love seeing LOTR content on here. I recently got back into painting LOTR miniatures after a few years break.
Nice! I really like the new stuff made by ForgeWorld, but that plastic mounted Dernhelm (Éowyn and Merry on horseback) is simply exquisite.
But as you say, that origianl Fellowship box still holds up super well!
Dernhelm is a lovely model you're right.
I could paint that metal fellowship each year and be happy – perhaps I should paint one soon..
