Four of the classic warbands from the first seasons of Warhammer Underworlds are returning, namely: Zarbag’s Gitz, Thorns of the Briar Queen, Mollog’s Mob, and Spiteclaw’s Swarm. In this showcase post, we’ll show you all four warbands from the new Rivals of the Mirrored City box painted by Garfy and Stahly.
Rivals of the Mirrored City isn’t just a reprint of the four classic warbands and their decks. Instead, you’ll find four revised Rival Decks with plenty of tweaks and balancing updates.
Garfy’s warbands
Garfy has already painted three of the four warbands from Rivals of the Mirrored City. While he stuck to the colour schemes of the studio models for Mollog’s Mob and Spiteclaw’s Swarm, he drew inspiration from his love for 80s and 90s action figures for the Thorns of the Briar Queen, adopting the colours of Skeletor from Masters of the Universe. You can find more pictures of Mollog here, more of Spiteclaw here, and more about Garfy’s Thorns of the Briar Queen in this post.
£60 for 4 warbands with cards is a really nice saving. I have 3 of the Warbands painted, Zarbag's Gitz to go. Mollog's Mob is my favourite. Love his little frog pal.

Stahly’s warbands
It doesn’t happen often that I paint greenskins. But Zarbag’s Gitz have so much character that I couldn’t resist. I combined the classic black of the Gloomspite Gitz with subdued yellow tones, and added purple and deep burgundy for the mushrooms and squigs as an additional contrast. You can find more pictures in this post.
Additionally, I have painted Spiteclaw’s Swarm, and you can find some free tutorials for it, such as painting Skaven flesh and petrol-coloured armor. If you want to learn more about my purple-grey colour scheme for my Thorns of the Briar Queen, check out this:
You can grab the complete step-by-step tutorial for my Nighthaunt here in my Patreon shop (or by becoming an Autarch tier member). Also includes additional tutorials for turquoise hexfire and glow effects!
Where to get
Rivals of the Mirrored City is still up for preorder. Like most Warhammer Underworlds products, we suspect that this box will only see a single print run, so if it’s gone, it’s gone. If you don’t want to miss out on these classic warbands, check out this link:
