Stahly
The mysterious masked Stahly is the founder and mastermind of Tale of Painters. Hailing from Craftworld Germany, he has been walking the Path of the Warhammer Collector since childhood. Over the decades, he has painted multiple armies and countless warbands and miniatures. When he's not painting miniatures or working on his library of hand-painted colour swatches, he's testing the latest paints, tools and model kits with German precision and a no non-sense attitude.
Under Construction
You probably noticed I changed the design of my blog. I added a third row so I’ve got more room to add stuff, for example check out this sweet little slideshow on the right. I’m not finished with all changes yet and it will take...
I bought new models!
You can never have enough of unpainted models. Well I bought a Hellpit Abomination, a Screaming Bell, a Warplightning Cannon, a can of Leather Brown primer and a Ravenwing Battleforce. I’m going to make a Bike Squad for my Ultramarines out of it. But I...
Giant Rats Painting I
I finished the first 10 Giant Rats and the movement tray.
Giant Rats Assembling
I assembled a pack of 22 Giant Rats and 3 Packmasters on Sunday. Beeing rather small one piece models, preparing them went pretty fast. For the packmasters I used suitable looking bodies from the Clanrat sprue. I took the whip arms from the Rat Ogre...
Doomwheel Painting V – Finished!
I had a very productive weekend. I finished the Doomwheel, as you can see above. I think it came out very nice, I’m also proud of the banner. Of course I will take some better pictures once I get around it. In addidtion to that,...
Showcase: Skaven Rat Ogre from Island of Blood
This is one of the mind blowing Rat Ogres from Island of Blood, sculpted by Seb Perbet. I already showed a picture of him some time ago, but here he is in his full glory. I also changed the colour of the tube from black...
Doomwheel Painting IV
Since the last update I’ve painted the little rats running in the wheel and the crew.
Doomwheel Painting III
Painting the wheels was rather easy and it didn’t took very long because it was just drybrushing and washing most of the time. Check out the green glow around the warpstone shards!
Showcase: Skaven Poisoned Wind Mortar Team
I painted this model when I was halfway through my big Clanrat unit. Actually the design of the model is pretty bad. The arms are far too thick and muscular, the mortar barrel and the globes are too big, even for heroic scale. Also there...
