Gandalf and Bilbo surrounded by Fell Wargs… where’s a Great Eagle when you need one? Read on to see a group shot of the Fell Wargs, my thoughts on painting these evil beasts and the trailer for the next film
After expanding my Good force in May with two Great Eagles, I wanted to add to my evil force this month. I wanted a quick project, something I could airbrush. in the end I choose a box of six Fell Wargs. This is a really cool box set. You get six individually posed models. No duplicates at all. All the models are dynamically posed and the heads are ball jointed so there is a degree of pose-ability.
For the paint job, I wanted to do a little more then just paint them brown. So I made the fur much darker then the skin areas and I blended the legs with lighter colours. I wanted lighter coloured legs legs because the thought of a brown model on a brown base would look dull. the lighter legs really help break the model up. I also added some pink tones to the bottom of the paws, the ears and the noses just to help get a little more colour into these. Overall I’m really happy with them. A nice quick two project.
I thought this would be the perfect place to share the trailer for Desolation of Smaug.
Is anyone else excited by The Hobbit – The Desolation of Smaug Trailer? I can not wait to see the models that Citadel will release for this. I hope Smaug is a massive plastic kit, I don’t care what it costs, I want it!
