And they are done! These are the last two bikers of a five bikes strong Ultramarines bike squad. Now all they need is a coat of varnish and they are good to go. How do you like them? I’m really pleased and enjoyed painting them a lot. Now I’m back at working at my Dark Eldar for Tale of Mega Painters, so next up is a Ravager for my Dark Eldar. But don’t worry, maybe I’ll be able to sneak in some more power armour soon. I heard Tigurius is quite good now, isn’t he?

Stahly is the founder of Tale of Painters. He lives in Craftworld Hamburg, located in the north of Germany, where he walks the Path of the Graphic Designer. He transitioned from Lego to Games Workshop models at the tender age of 11 and didn't look back ever since. He is known for bold colour schemes and sharp edge highlights, which he paints with typical German perfectionism (one of the reason he is such a notoriously slow painter).
I see I'm not the only one who mixes paints and puts them in better pots. Nice ultramarines, I like the Mk.IV helmet on the plasma gunner.
I agree with the above comments, drill those barrels! Its very easy and quick and the results add a nice dynamic to the models.
Everything looks great! wonderful painting. However, the shiny coating over the transfers. Is that still wet or are you using a gloss coating? I personally dont like the contrast from a satin or matte finish against the glossy. Personal opinion though.
Keep up the great work! I cant wait to see the unit in one shot!
The gloss coat is just to protect the paintjob from the decal softener, it will be gone once I hit the model with a coat of matt varnish.
I like them, but like Garfy, I would like you to promise me you will begin to drill out your barrels. Such a great paint job though!
Yeah I know, it's just back then when I started this army I didn't have the right sized drill and also had the fear of messing up the model, and now I still don't do it because I like consistency…
I never realised that you don't drill out our barrels. Whilst your black circles are really neat you can't beat drilling out the barrels. Looks so much better.
Contratulations on finishing the squad. I'm looking forward to the obligatory showcase thread with group shot. 😀
