I have finally finished these Scout models that have been on my desk for what seems like an eternity. I’m really happy with them. I like my little sculpted details and converted Stalker Pattern Boltguns. I’m really digging the red gun cases, that little flash of red on these models really makes the minis seem interesting. I may have to continue with the red weapon casing theme when I start my next company of Ultramarines.
I was getting an Obi Wan Kenobi vibe off of Telion, so I painted his cape in the style of a Jedi robe. Quite pleased with the outcome. This is the start of my 5th Scout Squad, hence the V on their right shoulder pads

Found your blog while searching for ultramarine scouts. I love the additional armour plate you've added.
I have a shed load of bnib Marines I got when I first got into the hobby almost three years ago for my Dark Angels, they are pretty much fleshed out and after painting Robutte Guilliman I feel a draw towards the Ultramarines and was looking for colour scheme inspirations, I certainly found that here. Have you done more? Did you finish your Ultramarine force? Great work and thanks for sharing.
Ah, I see. The mohawks are a little nod back to the Rogue Trader plastic scouts I painted recently. Quite fun 😀
Ah sorry, iro isn't a word in english, I meant the mohawks 😉
@ KevonTheBeardless – You're completely right, I just wanted to be done painting these. I tend to cut corners a lot anyway, and my DSLR's clear pictures are ruthless at showing every flaw. It's good in a way because it picks things up that my naked eye can't. Especially in winter painting time when natural light is rare. I'm not too worried about the blends on Telion's cloak though because he's only a unit Character. He'll be lost once the whole 100 strong company is painted.
@ Stahly – What are pros boss? You're right about the bases. Well spotted, once again I put that down to painting in artificial light.
@ Ron – Thanks Ron, I'm pleased with the cloths and bases too. Despite the bright red guns and blue armour I like the idea of the scouts being able to cover themselves in camp cloaks and blend in.
Nice job on the blue armour. Nice and clean with good bends. The base ties in nicely with the cloth on the models as well.
Well done.
Ron, FTW
Really nice (though I'm not sold on the iros 😉 However you should hit the trims of the bases with another coat of paint, the black shows through on some areas!
By the way, how do you paint the texture of your bases?
They look nice, I love the red on the guns. And the cape looks nice too, you may want to try blending the khaki color on the a little better. It just seems to stand out a little bit as "not being as nice as the rest of the model". Kinda looks like you got to the khaki and decided you just wanted to be done painting. Otherwise, nice looking models!
