Following up our “Tale of Mega Painters” post, I’m pleased to say I’ve finished the crew on my Raider, so the model is complete now. Notice the blue stripe I added to the Kabal symbol. I’ve used masking tape to get a clean and straight stripe, carefully painting around the transfer. In my opinion, it looks much better than before. What do you think? I also left out the spears. I think they distort the silhouette of the model. Nowadays, models are so packed with details you can often do without the optional parts. I’m a less is more guy with my models 😉 Over the time I plan to add Warriors hanging on the sides, but for now I’ll leave this model as it is.

Nice work on the Raider, I dont think I'd have the patience to sit and paint one as quickly as you have! I think the blue stripe works well.
My only gripe (and echoing what catyweasel said) would be the sail. It looks kinda flat and I personally think that a white sail would have looked better. Maybe a few highlights would bring into life?
As I said before though the colour scheme is spot on and I'm really enjoying watching this army progress!
I think you've done a great job here. The detail and effort you've put in is clearly shown. The blue stripe works well to tie the sail in with the rest of the craft, whilst also drawing the eye to the Kabal Symbol.
The two dark elder miniatures further show your attention to detail with the edging you've also extended to their armour. Doing the blue edging around the eyes gives me the impression they're glowing, which I quite like. Very good paint job indeed.
Could I ask you to visit my site via the link in this comment to tell me what you think of my own painted miniature. It's no where near as good as what you've done, believe me, but I'm steadily advancing. Practise makes perfect as they say. Nathan's Fiction Sphere
I also wanted to say I'm thinking of doing a monthly post where people email me a picture of a model, models, they've painted within that month and are most proud of. It will be displayed on my blog with name, owner name, their thoughts etc, as well as link to their blog. Just wondered if you would be interested?
Wow; just WOW!
spot on with the stripe. the blue on the sail still seems…unfinished. it may just be looking at the model on a screen that does it.
The stripe works well to draw attention to the Kabal symbol, and makes the sail and hul seems like they belong together.
I agree about the less-is-more when construction GW plastic kits – whether they be vehicles or infantry. I still shudder when I remember my 1st Leman Russ tank (when it was first released nearly 2 decades ago). I added the searchlight, dozer balde, hunter-killer, storm bolter, heavy flamer…
