After a brief power armour interlude I’m back at painting Dark Eldar. Next up is the Ravager, probably the most complicated model in my army because there are so many parts to paint. For the ease of painting, I broke the model down into a couple of sub-assemblies. So far I basecoated and airbrushed all the vehicle parts. I also started painting and highlighting one of the hull parts. As you can see I managed to snap off the tip of the tail fin. Let’s see if I can glue it back on or if I need to cut a new tip.
Stahly
Stahly hails from Craftworld Germany and has been involved with Warhammer since childhood. He has painted several armies and countless warbands and Kill Teams over the decades, and founded Tale of Painters in 2011. When he's not painting miniatures incredibly slowly, he's testing the latest paints, tools and kits with German precision and a no non-sense attitude.
FYI: Citadel Edge Paints seem to be back on the site. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/armySubUnitCats.jsp?catId=cat1040004a&rootCatGameStyle=paints-tools
I am curious: how do glue the painted pieces together without having the glue dissolve the paint?
I covered all the contact points with masking tape and blue-tac, so I'm just using regular plastic glue.
You're doing the right thing in my opinion by painting in subassemblies. It almost feels like you're painting squad. It's such a great feeling at the end of the project assembling painted parts.
Love it.
