Update on my Skathach Wraithknight. The upper body is 90% complete. This is the biggest and most intricate sub-assembly group, so finishing this will mark another giant step towards the model’s completion.
Have you seen the discussion of Gathering Storm II, Fracture of Biel-Tan on Warhammer Live yesterday? And read the reports from the oncoming White Dwarf? I’m really curious how this Ynnead storyline will turn out. On the one hand, I feel optimistic as the arrival of Ynnead’s Avatar might herald a new age of pointy-eared glory, on the other hand, I fear that the Eldar might lose their individual flavours, and what defined them the most – their struggle against their own flaws and desires. Also, the Yncarne’s strong Slaanesh resemblance can’t be a coincidence – I’m afraid not everything might be as it seems.
I just hope that the existing Eldar factions won’t be neglected in favour of a new breed of Ynnari themed models. We need plastic Aspect Warriors, Warlocks, Grotesques, and new Phoenix Lords before we can move on to something new! This is one of my biggest grips with Age of Sigmar so far – the attention and support of new models is only on the newly created factions, while the old Fantasy races feel like they are swept under the carpet.
What do you think? Has anyone some Ynnead theories to share?
Wraithknight looks awesome, great job!
Sounds like they're adding a sub-faction rather than removing any of the existing stuff. I agree we 100% need new plastic aspects and Phoenix Lords though!
But that may not happen until the next CWE book, which is probably miles away since we got it updated twice in short succession recently (the wraith one and the jetbike one).
Love the Wraithknight BTW, I might copy you and remove the excess 'bubbles' 🙂
It makes sense that Slaanesh and Ynnead look similar, as they said on Warhammer Live, they're made of the same stuff. I would be surprised if they actually turned his followers into a whole new model range, from what I gather it's really just a few different rules.
Both Slaanesh and Ynnead are gods created by the Eldar, so it would make sense that they have some similarities.
On the other hand, I agree with you with regards to Eldar needing a heck of a lot of refreshing on their existing model range. I don't think there is another army on the shelves that has such a large proportion of it in finecast. This leads me to my other worry that this is destroying Biel-Tan, then craftworld famous for it having the most Aspect Warriors. Seems a perfect target for getting rid of them and not having to update the models.
From what I have gathered, Biel-Tan will not be completely destroyed but split/broken into several smaller vessels as the Yncarne emerges from the Craftworld's infinity circuit core. Let's wait and see.
Great work, can't wait to see the entire model in all it's glory!
As a side-note, you managed to put words to one of the things the bugs me about AoS, the constant creation of new sub-factions.
For example: The new greenskin models are nice, but will we ever see some new Orc Boyz models? Or will it be all Iron-jawz from here on?
