I got a lot of comments regarding the daemonic pallid flesh of my Alpha Legion Anointed, so here is a short tutorial for painting purple Chaos Possessed flesh. Perfect for Possessed, but also Daemonettes, Daemon Princes, Pink Horrors, you name it. Find out more in this post.
This tutorial assumes you know the basic grips of painting Warhammer miniatures. Step by step I explain all the paints and techniques I used. I have a rather eclectic paint collection, so when I use a paint that is not from Games Workshop (or out of production), I’ll try to provide you with suitable alternatives from the current Citadel paint range [in brackets]. However, if you want to achieve exactly the same result as shown, I recommend expanding your paint collection. You’ll find a list of all the paints used in this tutorial at the end of the post.
How to paint Chaos Possessed skin
Basecoat the flesh with Warpaints Mutant Hue [or Daemonette Hide mixed 1:1 with Pink Horror].
Wash with Dreadful Visage.
Layer with Warpaints Mutant Hue [or Daemonette Hide mixed 1:1 with Pink Horror] while omitting the recesses.
Highlight with Mutant Hue [or Daemonette Hide mixed 1:1 with Pink Horror] mixed 2:1 with Reaper Master Series Leather White [or Pallid Wych Flesh].
Apply a second highlight, this time with a 1:2 mix of Mutant Hue [or Daemonette Hide mixed 1:1 with Pink Horror] and Reaper Master Series Leather White [or Pallid Wych Flesh].
To add some more depth and colour, glaze Magos Purple around the eye sockets, cheeks, lips, and maw on the left hand.
Here we have the completed Anointed from my Alpha Legion Kill Team with all of the other details filled in. The eyes were painted with Karandras Green, then layered with VGC Scorpy Green and Reaper Master Series Dungeon Slime. The tongue was basecoated with Pink Horror, then washed with Carroburg Crimson and layered and highlighted with Pink Horror and Warpaints Scar Tissue. The teeth were painted with Stormvermin Fur and highlighted with RMS Leather White.
I have a few more pictures of the Anointed here. A short tutorial for painting the teal metallic armour can be found by following this link.
